Eddie Cibrian lands lead role in 'Playboy' TV pilot

LOS ANGELES -- Actor Eddie Cibrian, fiance of country superstar LeAnn Rimes, has been cast in the starring role for the upcoming TV pilot "Playboy," according to the Hollywood Reporter on Friday.
Cibrian will play a Chicago attorney and "keyholder," or member, of the notorious Playboy Club in its early-1960s heyday. Filming for the series -- produced by 20th Century Fox for NBC -- will begin in the Windy City next week.
The former "CSI: Miami" star is stepping in after "Hellcats" actor Jeff Hephner got the boot from the lead role, reportedly because he was not considered a recognizable-enough name.
Earlier this week, Cibrian, 37, joined Rimes, 28, in denying rumors the engaged couple were planning a reality TV show about their forthcoming nuptials.
Despite the denials, Cibrian's ex-wife, Brandi Glanville, was supportive of the idea, telling Us Weekly that her ex "needs a job."
20th Century Fox TV is owned by News Corporation, the parent company of NewsCore.
